MECA Created a Conference Around Male Estheticians

What NBEW Is Watching Next

MECA — Men’s Esthetician Conference and Associates — was created to give male Estheticians a stronger place to gather, learn and build community in a profession where men have historically been a smaller part of the workforce.

Founded by Moto Kinjo, the event has combined networking with esthetics education on subjects ranging from massage and peels to business development, oncology esthetics, nano-channeling and other treatment topics. The “and Associates” portion of the name is intentional: women and other industry colleagues have also been part of the gathering.

NBEW has not yet verified a public 2027 date or registration page for the next MECA conference, so this remains a watchlist story rather than a fully scheduled event preview.

The NBEW Lens

MECA is another event with a meaningful connection to NBEW.

NBEW’s founder first connected with MECA founder Moto Kinjo through The Skin Games. Conversations with Kinjo and his support over the years have made MECA’s mission especially resonant here.

The conference was created around a simple but often overlooked reality: men are a smaller presence within the professional Esthetics workforce, and having a space where male Estheticians can learn, connect and see one another represented has value.

For NBEW, there is an additional intersection worth recognizing.

Men with melanated skin often arrive in the treatment room with concerns shaped by shaving, coarse or tightly curled facial hair, ingrown hairs, irritation and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Those concerns sit at the meeting point between men’s grooming and professional skincare and can require considerable knowledge to treat well.

MECA therefore opens a conversation not only about men working in Esthetics, but about the needs of male clients, including Black men and other men with melanated skin whose concerns have not always been centered within mainstream skincare education.

That combination of professional representation, community and client care makes MECA a natural event for NBEW to keep close.

NBEW Note

MECA has not yet announced a publicly verified 2027 date, venue or registration schedule. This story will be updated when the next conference is officially announced.
